Do you have insomnia?

All of the following questions are simple yes/no answers.  When you finish answering the questions, just count how many yes answers you had.

  1. Do you take longer than 15-20 minutes to go to sleep.
  2. Do you believe you have a ‘problem’ with sleep?
  3. Do you frequently wake up during the night and have difficulty going back to sleep?
  4. Do you think ‘negative’ sleep thoughts and wonder if this pattern will ever end?
  5. Do you ‘watch the clock’ wondering when you will ever get to sleep?
  6. Do you take perscription or OTC sleeping medications relatively regularly?
  7. Do you agonize about how tired and miserable you will feel the next day?
  8. Has this sleeplessness gone on longer than 6 months?
  9. Do you need a caffeine kick-start mornings or mid-afternoons?
  10. Do you have repeated wake-ups during the night?

  • Well it sounds like I had better get that FREE e-book. I answered yes to several of these questions and if I remove the sleep-aid that I take every night, I might answer yes to all of them. UGH!!! Now I must add that I don’t have trouble falling aleep but having to use the restroom in the middle of the night will render me awake for a few hours afterwards. And that’s actually the problem. If I don’t get up, I can usually sleep well through the night.

    Can’t wait to read the book. Maybe I can stop using a sleep aid!

  • Good tips. American Sleep Association also has a bunch of sleep hygiene tips for insomnia.

  • I had insomnia a few years ago and my grandmother suggested me to stop eating before going to sleep. This simple tip really helped me to solve the problem and in case you also experience insomnia it can help you.
